Why You Should Be Using A Deodorant Instead of an Anti-Perspirant

It’s ironic, isn’t it? The one skincare product we’re pretty sure every guy out is already using regularly is arguably the one most harmful to your body. That antiperspirant body spray that might seem indispensable might make you smell good, but it’s actually actively working against you.

After spending the last few years doing a deep dive into the ingredients used in common skincare products, all of us here at Disco are now proudly pro-deodorant, and anti antiperspirant. Didn’t know there was a difference between the two? That’s ok—at first, we didn’t either.

Here are the basic facts:

Deodorant breaks down bacteria that causes offensive odors.

Antiperspirant, on the other hand, purposefully clogs your sweat glands and traps toxins inside your body.

Wish we could stop there, but there’s more. Common antiperspirants include all of the following...if you haven’t switched to our all-natural deodorant yet, check the ingredients on your can:

Aluminum. Increased levels of the metal have been found in patients with dementia.

Phthalates and Triclosan, which are linked to hormone disruption.

Propylene Glycol, which is also an ingredient in...anti-freeze.

Knowledge is power, man.
